Job Description
Job Summary:
 
SEA CORP has full-time openings for mid-level systems engineers to fill SWFTS Systems Engineer positions, based out of Newport, RI. A Systems Engineer, also known as lead systems analyst, a network engineer who can also program, or a software engineer who can also manage networks, is an IT professional who oversees the creation of hybrid software, web and hardware products from initial specifications to final rollout and maintenance with the ability to interface with Fleet, Government, and Contractor personnel. PEO SUB-S and NUWC execute interface design and integration efforts for the SWFTS System of Systems on submarines. These activities are categorized as Interface Definition, Baseline Management and Integration and Test. The SWFTS Systems Engineer is will work with the NUWC Newport team on assigned tasking to provide technical support during the execution of these activities. The SWFTS System Engineer would be considered a part of the NUWC team and receive direction from the SWFTS Chief Engineer.
 
Examples of task support required include:
•           Participating in Test Events
•           Utilization of diagnostic and test tools
•           Modeling support with commercial tool sets
•           Participation in SWFTS Systems engineering and Baseline Review meetings
•           Participation in TI H/W and APB S/W meetings
•           Support for Platform Integration activities including participation in Platform Integration Team (PIT) meetings and System Integration Team (SIT) meetings as well as review of       
            Government Furnished Information (GFI) for technical quality.


Required knowledge includes familiarity with SWFTS or Combat System products and activities such as Interface Management, Integration and Test, Systems Engineering, etc. The hired candidate should have understanding of the Technical Insertion (TI) Advanced Processor Build (APB) SWFTS update cycle with knowledge of the Baseline Change Request (BCR) process. Possessing Cybersecurity knowledge/experience with SWFTS posture transitions and IAT/IAM Certifications is considered a plus. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, especially in the areas of verbal and written communication, and will also be a self-motivated individual. Some travel is required for this position, but will otherwise work a normal business schedule.
 
Education and Experience:
 
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (Advanced military technical training (e.g. Navy "C" School) and 7 years’ experience in military systems (e.g., service abroad a naval ship) can be substituted for a Bachelor's degree) and 3 years of professional experience in systems engineering. The ideal candidate would have 5 -10 year's submarine Combat System experience.
 
U.S. citizenship and current DOD Secret clearance are required.
