Job Description
Job Summary:
 
The Ship Alteration (SHIPALT) / Temporary Alteration (TEMPALT) Development Business Area is seeking a full-time CAD Operator to work out of SEA CORP’s main location in Middletown, RI.  The hired candidate will work closely on assigned work with engineering staff to thoroughly understand design requirements and generate models, assemblies, and mechanical drawing packages for manufacture and installation on navy submarine and surface ships. The candidate will use their excellent SolidWorks and AutoCAD skills to rapidly generate accurate 3-D models and 2-D manufacturing and installation drawings.  The candidate will be expected to assist the technician group at times with physical assembly of equipment racks, chassis and foundations. Some travel may be required for this position but otherwise will have regular business hours.

Required Education and Experience:
 
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and able to thrive in group collaboration settings as well as in working alone with little supervision. They will be able to juggle tasks and projects based upon priority and deadline and utilize creative thinking in solving problems. They will be computer literate and have experience preparing various drawings of parts and assemblies, including various views, sectional profiles, irregular or reverse curves, hidden lines, and small or intricate details. They must have basic Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills. Intermediate AutoCAD and advanced SolidWorks skills are required.  A working knowledge of ASME drawing standards and submarine/surface ship standards is desired.
 
A minimum of an Associate’s degree and 3 years of experience are required for this position.
 
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level security clearance.
