SEA CORP is seeking a full-time Power Engineer to be based out of Newport, RI. The Power Engineer will work with power supplies, design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacturing of electrical and electronic equipment, including broadcast and communications systems, electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, and wiring in buildings, automobiles, aircraft, radar and navigation systems, and transmission devices used by electric utilities. This engineer will work closely with both customers and colleagues on assigned tasking. This position will design new products, write performance requirements, and develop maintenance schedules as well as test equipment, solve operating problems, and estimate the time and cost of engineering projects. Some travel, including overnight trips, may be involved with this position.
Required Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have Power Engineering or HVAC experience, LabVIEW development experience, and submarine experience as well as be computer literate, self-motivated, and have the ability to utilize creative thinking in problem solving. They will also possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office products. This position requires the candidate to have experience with Power Engineering testing and development and also with analyzing and defining requirements for VA and Columbia platforms. The hired candidate will have experience working with Filters, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS's), etc., and also be comfortable working in a military environment. Required Electrical testing and troubleshooting experience includes but is not limited to:
Breadboard engineering and troubleshooting experience
Experience with 3-Phase Delta & Wye Power Sources
Experience with various topics listed in 1399-300B, such as, inrush current, current harmonics, common-mode noise, etc.
Providing Power Technical Reviews on test plans and test reports
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering as well as 3-7 years of experience.
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance are required.
